AURA-LA Pastries + Provisions is a community-focused bakery, specializing in made-from-scratch, in-house baking, ice cream, and bean-to-bar chocolate. We also proudly stock an intentionally curated selection of locally produced provisions.

Our Story

We are a neighbourhood bakery owned by Aura (yes, that is her given name). We opened the door on Frederick St. in December of 2018. This is Aura’s third bakery. The concept is simple. Delicious fresh baked goods made daily from scratch. The items we bake are an eclectic mix of classic favourites like brownies, muffins, scones, squares and cookies to other more intriguing items like kouignamann, brioche, babkas, cinnamon buns, croissants, danishes and basque cheesecakes. We are constantly playing with new recipes and incorporating them into our product offerings.

Aura identifies as not only as a baker, but also as a food entrepreneur and curator. She is passionate about the food and small business community in the Waterloo Region, and has curated an ever-growing selection of locally hand crafted provisions – food items and gifts that compliment the bakery’s concept and mission.

At AURA-LA, we’re serious about making only the best baked goods from scratch. It takes time to craft perfect pastries and we wouldn’t serve our customers anything that we wouldn’t eat ourselves. Our day-to-day selection of pastries and baked goods changes with demand, inspiration and the seasons, though we have some favourites you are almost always sure to find!

We want to bring something a little extra to our community, so we make pastries inspired by amazing countries around the world! Try our Polish Babka, Basque Cheesecake from Spain, and signature Kouign-Amann, which is a Breton styled laminated pastry!

Ice Cream

Looking for a grab and go pint of ice cream? We’ve got the good stuff! Our ice cream and sorbet are made in house, and we’re always adding delicious new flavours to satisfy your cravings.

Chocolate

Our chocolate is bean to bar, which means we oversee the entire creation process. We use Organic Fair Trade beans from the best quality sources. Not only do we craft chocolate bars, but we use our own chocolate in our baked goods!

When you come into AURA-LA Pastries + Provisions, you’ll find locally made, small batch products, such as specialty sauces, ready-made meals, dry goods, maple syrup, popcorn, candles, bath + body products, greeting cards and so much more!
